BLOG UPDATE – My first 3 months of motherhood

I have a huge amount of posts coming up in the next couple of weeks covering the first 3 months of Liberty’s life to explain my motherhood journey covering baby illness to breastfeeding then bathtime to sleep training and mental health issues! I want to help other mums who need some guidance as struggled to find all the information I needed as had so many questions! Please note that the guidance provided is not the set way! Every baby is different and is based on my experience alone.

I started to write my posts and what I have experienced when doing the night feeds.

Everything single thing Liberty does from hiccups, having cold hands to putting her fists in her mouth I googled and followed blogs and forums from other mums relating to their experience with these things I was learning about.

There were so many areas to cover so I have broken them down into sections listed below:

  • Breastfeeding, expressing and formula
  • Sleep training
  • Bathtime
  • Baby classes
  • Post baby body
  • Baby development (link to classes)
  • Baby jabs
  • Mental health overview
  • Teething (TBC)
  • Return to work plans and nursery (TBC)
  • Weaning (TBC)

Hello September – Hello to be being one of the oldest in the school year Liberty!

img_0145

The August due date has been and gone and still no Liberty! I think that subconsciously Liberty knew that I wanted a September baby hence why she is holding on! (You can come out now!) The reason being is that I wanted a baby that would be the oldest in the school year.

Are you prepared? Physically ✅ Medically ✅ Mentally – ❌ – Overcoming my Fear and Mental Blocks – Open Letter to Liberty

Dear L

As you have seen, I have prepared everything from Liberty’s nursery to my visual birth plan, met with my care team several million times to prepare myself medically and packed my bags ready for labour. With all this, you could say that I was ready! That couldn’t be any further from the truth! I am so unprepared mentally. You hear many stories that fear and mental blocks can physically stop something from happening , this can apparently be the same with labour. Once you have spoken out loud and released the negative thoughts and fear and let them go, things start to happen.  With 5 days to go, I need to learn to let go and become mentally prepared.

Back to the Birth Bible (Milli’s book) there is a section about overcoming fears and mental blocks so I have decided to review the list of ideas (Page 142) and chosen to write a letter to Liberty. This letter will explain how I feel about the birth and how I feel about her. I know this letter won’t be easy to write but will be an honest open letter of all the feelings I have addressed to my daughter. So here goes…

The scariest packing that I have ever done – What to pack in your hospital bag

Bag

With 2 weeks to go before Liberty is due to arrive, I have finally packed my hospital bag! (This meaning I have put things in the bag as I had already prepared it weeks ago #superorganised😊). I had read so many different sites, blogs and forums about what to pack and decided I would use a mixture of Baby Centre’s, Milli’s (from the Positive Birth Book) and the one I was provided from the Hospital.

How am I going to get Liberty out? Planning for Labour using The Positive Birth Book by Milli Hill – PART 1

With all the drama planning for the what ifs around my mental health when Liberty arrives  and whether my meds would cause issues when it came to breastfeeding, I haven’t actually  been asked what kind of birth I would like. Before I was pregnant I would joke saying that I was too posh to push and have my labour booked in and plan my labour around my life. I would want the baby to come ‘out of the sunroof’ if you know what I mean as no way I would want to it to come out of my V. The thought terrified me! So it was time to ask myself what kind of birth I actually wanted.

Having no clue, a colleague at work suggested a book which was the ‘NO BS’ book to pregnancy, birth and the early days which would cover everything I wanted to know and all the things I hadn’t even thought of! The book was called ‘The Positive Birth Book’ by Milli Hill.

Before candlelit dinners and ‘do not disturb’ turns into Bottle feed and Bedtime stories – Introduction to the trend of babymoons

People have asked me many times whether we were going to take a break just the two of us before Liberty arrives.  Apparently there is a trend that expectant parents do before child birth which is referred to as a babymoon!  This means having one last relaxing/romantic holiday as a childless couple. It is almost bittersweet! You get a reason to go on holiday however it will never be the same again! As candlelit dinners and ‘do not disturb’ turns into Bottle feed and Bedtime stories at 7pm.

Don’t lower yourself to respond! My first experience with Twitter Trolls!

As a hopeless romantic, I have been looking forward to the royal wedding for weeks! One of the main attractions for me like any fashion thinking female was seeing the dress! The dress is should a big deal for a wedding (well I think it is anyway) and I couldn’t wait to see what Meghan had chosen! She has all the world designers to choose from so who was it going to be….

Seeing a quick glance of the dress in the car on the way to the ceremony, I saw the top part which look like a thick boat necked dress with no detail but hoped that there was more to the dress when we see her get out of the car!
